Labor Day Weekend
My wife and I will be staying in Manhattan over Labor Day weekend. We're excited that we'll basically have the city to ourselves, but wondering a little about the restaurants. Are there certain places that we should avoid or try given that half the city will be out of town?

Note: for whatever reason, this past Memorial Day, the city did not seem that empty to me compared to past years. Not sure you can really depend upon the city being empty for Labor Day.
Additionally, famous restaurants that attract both locals and tourists will still be full, since people come into the city for holidays.

re: foodwhisperer
I agree with kathryn and foodwhisperer; there will be many tourists in NYC that weekend. I feel that over the past few years guide books and travel web sites started promoting the fact that NYers leave Manhattan for the weekend during the summer, so it is a good time to visit. The City is just not as "dead" as it once was during the summer. That said, I too think it will be easier to get a reservation at the better restaurants, but with many of them you will have to wait until 30 days or so before the date you want, so making a reservation right now might not be an option.
