Save me from Little Caesar's! Any place to eat between Talladega and Birmingham?
My daughter is working at a summer camp on Lake Logan Martin, closest "big city" is Talladega. We're heading out next weekend from Atlanta to take her out to dinner for her birthday. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be a culinary hotspot. The #1 rated place on Yelp features "burgers and sandwiches." Huddle House is #7. Hmm.
Her camp is located over an hour east of Birmingham. I'm hoping that if I head west, on either I-20, or US-280, that as I hit the eastern edge of Metro Birmingham there will be someplace to eat. East side might cut some time off the round trip, rather than going all the way into Birmingham, which I know has great restaurants. I'm not expecting haute cuisine, just someplace that's nice enough to spend time catching up. We're very flexible as to type of food, it's more someplace that makes decent food, has a bit of atmosphere, and maybe a wine list? Any B'ham residents out there with an idea? Thanks!

Thanks all for the suggestions. My daughter ended up requesting a chance to do some shopping so we ended up making it all the way to the Cahaba neighborhood, by the Summit mall. We ended up eating at Satterfields, and had a very nice meal. Some nice oysters to start, and the rest of the meal varied from competent to pretty darn good. In the latter category were the venison short ribs, a sausage/tomato/pickle salad, and the fritto misto. Grilled peach salad, pork chop were competent. Wine list pretty good. I'd go there again if in the neighborhood.
