Fisichelli's Bakery

Just found out that Fisichelli's bakery in Lawrence is opening a storefront right in downtown Andover. For some reason, I was getting the impression that they were getting ready to close. Their Union St. store in Lawrence always seems closed when I drive by.

There are a few really good bakeries in the Merrimack Valley, but to me, no one does creme filled pastry quite as good as Fisichelli's. In years past, the only time I ever seem to enjoy a treat from Fisichelli's is at the Three Saints Feast, where I usually share a lobster tail with whomever I happen to be with. It's nice to know that they will now have a more convenient location .

I heard they were supposed to open on the 15th in the Andover location; don't know what's up.

They are the gold standard for cannoli in the Merrimack Valley. I always liked Pappy's bread but Piro's is quite good, as is Tripoli...and the pizza is unbeatable.

Have to disagree, they're far from a gold standard for anything Italian Pastry. I'd opt for either Tripoli's or Piro's for pastries.

What have you had bad experience(s) with? Granted, I only frequent Fisichellis for the cannoli, but I haven't been disappointed.

Their casata cake, it's covered in what tastes like pure lard. Piro's and Tripoli's makes theirs with whipped cream, much lighter and delicate. Also, I think their cannoli shells are a bit thick.

I agree on the shells..but the filling is difficult to beat. I am surprised that their casata is not made with whipped cream. I've never heard of it made with anything but!

I've been trolling Main St. in Andover for a couple weeks now. I know I didn't imagine seeing a sign for Fisichelli's in a storefront there, but there is no longer any sign. Does anyone know what happened to the Andover plan? Was really looking forward to it in Andover.

They had a booth set up at Andover Days right outside where their storefront will be. They said they are opening within the next two weeks ( this was last Saturday). There is a sign on their storefront..right past the old town hall if you are traveling south on Main St. I forget what is on either side, but it is before the jewelry store.

I am just happy to have a bakery in Andover! I go to Tripolis at least once a week and I am not intimidated to go to Lawrence...I grew up in Lowell and teach there :) The new North Andover location is different because it more or less caters to the Merrimack College students. Square pizza is the same as from my childhood. Am I giving my age away??? Andover also has a food truck: cupcakes. Will post when I try some.

Yes, a real Italian bakery in Andover is something that is long overdue! I am not intimidated to go into Lawrence. I work in the heart of Lawrence and grew up there. Fisichelli's Lawrence location is in a weird spot and never seems to be open late afternoon.
The Tripoli North Andover location is booming and always busy. If my son and I are in the mood for Tripoli pizza, we head there instead of Lawrence, but the Lawrence location is still better for bread.
I did not know about the food truck in Andover. Where are they usually?

looks like they're taking a page from Tripolli's who opened a store front in N. Andover. Unfortunately, a lot of people feel intimidated to go in to Lawrence. Personally, I prefer Piro's for their Italian pastries.

I like Piro's for bread but Fisichelli's for cookies

I used to go there all the time when I worked in Lawrence. They make the cannoli right in front of you, which isn't something you see often enough.
