Waraya: A Pictorial Essay

J.L. Jun 17, 2012 03:22 AM

Verdict: The spirit of Raku lives on. Raku was one of my favorite places to eat late-night in West L.A. I was sad to see it go several months back. A second Raku location, called Raku Plus, still exists out in Little Tokyo (at Honda Plaza).

Waraya is the new incarnation at the site formerly occupied by Raku in West L.A. The food at Waraya, like its predecessor, is Japanese izakaya with a definite Korean flair. I'm pleased to report that through the transition of ownership, the menu has remained largely unchanged - And the cooking is also on point.

Highlights: Potato salad, most of their fried dishes, Korean seafood pancake, okonomiyaki
