Favorite Grasshopper Pie?
Am having a couple of friends over for dinner Thursday night, and I'd like to make a grasshopper pie. What I mean by that is a mint-flavored chilled pie with chocolate notes, but there seems to be no Internet consensus on the best approach (except that, unusually, everybody hates Alton Brown's).
Do you prefer 1) a marshmallow-based grasshopper pie
2) a true Bavarian cream-and-egg custard (a la Epicurious) or
3) some kind of Jello/Cool Whip concoction?
BTW, the Momofuku Milk bar mint cheesecake isn't even an option.
Thanks in advance
As a teenager in the seventies, I frequently made the marshmallow one. Everyone REALLY loved it; that said, I wonder now what it would taste like. Probably WAY too sweet!!
How about a thin fudge layer topped with a stabilized creme de menthe whipped cream, frozen?
Maybe with a chocolate cookie crumb crust.
