One night in Vancouver

The girl and I have one night in Vancouver, our last night here, without the wee little one. It's this Friday night.

Any suggestions for drinks, dinner, music?

No interest in fussy, expensive or pretentious. Looking for someplace unique with good food and a great atmosphere. We're adventurous and not afraid to venture to that hole in the wall in the funky neighborhood.

Is there anything that fits the above description that we shouldn't miss?

Thanks.

You could check out The Sardine Can (thesardinecan.ca) - new tapas restaurant, huge portions and reasonably priced ($5-10 each), but they don't take reservations. Cheap (for Vancouver) all-Spanish wine list. Very buzzy place now, if you have to wait they'll take your number and you can go upstairs to The Diamond for cocktails. Get the octopus stew, patatas bravas, sardines on toast and have a glass of sherry.

Alternatively - cocktails at The Keefer while you wait for a table at Bao Bei.
