How's the former Shunji's without Shunji? (7015 Melrose Sushi & Sake Bar offering AYCE Sushi for $35 Sundays in June)
On their Facebook page (http://7015melrose.com, which redirects to Facebook), they mention having AYCE sushi every Sunday until the end of the month. The price is $35, and, at least on June 4th, it included "Blue Fin Toro, Yellowtail Toro, and Kampachi, Aji, Salmon, sweet shrimp and fresh halibut". Has anyone tried it? Maybe this is the last stop on my Sunday food tour instead of NanBanKan. AYCE sushi almost never turns out well, but I gotta think this will be better than at some $11 seafood buffet place.

Trust your instincts, young padawan... But if you wanna take one for the team, please report back!

re: J.L.
I'll say one thing about AYCE sushi:
As long as it's not a buffet, it's probably no worse than walking into most of the gazillion random mid-low level sushi bars in LA.
I'd rather eat at Midori (Encino) than your average lower end sushi bar. Same stuff, better value.
If I was J.L., I wouldn't eat it either.
