Lunch in Oakland, wine required, good food, not crazy expensive

We're looking for a fun restaurant with good food and good wine that's open for lunch, located between Oakland Airport and near a BART station and not too expensive. Any ideas?

  1. Plum, Flora, Pican, Oliveto

Plum fails the "open for lunch" filter - at least according to their website.

Add "five" in berkeley (revival's not open for lunch)

      Otherwise - good list.

Gather in Berkeley. Skip Pican (B team working at lunch).

I don't know about B team, but Pican's crawfish roll is only available at lunch and is one of the best things I've had there. It doesn't appear that they've updated the website yet to reflect new chef Sophina Uong's menus, though, so I don't know for sure if that item is still available.

Only went to Gather once, but the place rubbed me the wrong way.

Actually Monday through Thursday, Flora also now fails the "open for lunch" filter, sadly. Also, try Lukas, in the same vicinity as Plum and Pican: it's sort of fun, decent food, and has wine.

      2. Bocanova in Jack London Sq.

        1. -Luka's will give you an Oaktown experience + a great burger.
-Oliveto cafe (downstairs) is across the street from the Rockridge Bart.
-Wood Tavern is a few blocks away.

          1. Bocanova would be my first choice if it's not farther from BART than you want (15 blocks / 0.8 mile).

Wood Tavern's great and not as far (~6 blocks / 0.4 mile).

Gather's wine list seems to have improved. http://www.gatherrestaurant.com/image...

Luka's by-the-glass list is kind of meh. I think of it for beer. http://www.lukasoakland.com/Menus/Win...

I forgot that Plum dropped lunch and brunch. Too bad.

            1. maybe hawker fare. nice atmosphere, though not sure about their wine list.

They don't really have a wine list, just one white and one red.

              2. Southie in Rockridge - limited menu (and just a few wines) but always fantastic. I'm a huge fan of Wood Tavern as well.

                1. Sounds just like Oliveto!!

You can walk out of the BART station (Rockridge) and literally throw a rock and hit the restaurant. Lovely lunch menu, too. Simple, but delicious Italian food. One of my favorite lunch places in all of the East Bay.
