Awesome Pizza/Italian deli on Central Coast

Ive been to Pismo Beach many, many times over the years...sometimes Pismo was the final destination, sometimes it was a great stop on the way to Big Sur, SF or Mendocino. Nearly every time, Ive stopped at Giuseppe's Express, a pizzeria/deli outpost of Giuseppe's, a full service restaurant a tad further north on Price Street, and every time Ive been amazed by their excellent pizza, salads, sandwiches and baked treats..Most of the time I cant resist the pizza so I'll get couple slices with pepperoni or some other topping that is available...Most of the time the crust is a little thicker than id normally prefer but it's so good in an artisanal rustic bread way. Ive been curious about their thin crusts but its usually only available as a pie. Last week i happened to stop in on the way to SF and i overheard a couple raving about their Sicilian pizza but unfortunately they didnt have any ready..these folks would not take No for answer and eventually they agreed to make a pie...these ex-Brooklynites now of Santa Barbara saw me photographing my slice so they knew i was a fellow pizza fanatic and they offered me a slice. And it was excellent but something was missing...On my way back to LA, I stopped in again and there were a few slices of Sicilian topped with house made sausage and peppers under the heat lamp...i ordered one. It was reheated perfectly; the crust had a bit of outer crispness, the cheese melted creamily and the sauce had just the right spice to it....i ordered a 2nd slice and asked the young lady behind the counter not to serve me another slice no matter how i begged...It was delish...a perfectly balanced Sicilian slice, not something Ive ever encountered west of the Hudson River....
One more reason to make Pismo a dining destination. This little and perhaps unlikely city is surprising me with every Chowhound report as a culinary diamond in the rough.

Sicilian is a thicker crusted pizza style...typically its way too bready for my taste unless its done right...they do it right at Giuseppe's Express...slight crispness and good chewy dough...excellent sausage topping...only thing is its not always ready....call ahead and see...the photo above is a Sicilian slice.
