Northampton area updates and places to try (?)

hi. I've realized lately that there are a lot of restaurants around that I rarely read about here on Chowhound (maybe for good reason) and I thought it might be a good idea to get some opinions on these places.

The Korean Restaurant on Rt. 9 in Hadley
Mulino's
Eastside Grill
Wiggins Tavern (asking because I think my parents would like it, but have never heard anyone, ever, mention it)

and lastly, what to order at India Palace on Main St. This question is due to the recent conversation here about how many consider it to be better than India House (State St.) and that has me intrigued.

Any reviews, raves, warnings???

Thanks!

I like Mulinos. Never had a bad meal there. Usually I get the bolognese sauce. Nice to sit out on the balcony.

it saddens me to say it, but Northampton's epicurean days are over. the restaurants are straight up businesses now, and the food quality is what you would imagine when the people controlling the budget aren't chefs. it's a popular regional tourist destination, and these places know thus that they've got ya by the short hairs. sadly, not the short ribs.

one distinction within this is Local Burger, and I wholeheartedly recommend them. kudos also to La Veracruzana. but fine dining is sadly relegated to a product that you could find in places where they consider food just that-- product.

Chez Albert in Amherst is a different story, as is the Federal in Agawam. bit of a haul also, but the Farm Table up in Bernardston... all restaurants that are easily offering a quality of dinner that you would find in a much more competitive dining market.

i adore Chez Albert, but can only make it there once or twice a year (budgetary constraints...). have also been pleasantly surprised with Local Burger. other than that, i think you're right about Northampton. When i think of my favorite places, they're all out of town (Mi Tierra-Hadley, Williamsburg Snack Bar and Chez Albert) with the exception of the Dirty Truth....but I usually head there for beer and the food, while it's usually great, is not why I go.
So, still hoping for some input on places that I've been ignoring for 11 years or that have not been on my radar.

The Eastside grill is horrible since new owners, Wiggins has always been bad , Mulino's very uneven. I like the Korean in Hadley.
At India palace we like saag paneer, chicken shahi korma, vindaloo lamb.

That's pretty much what I expected. The Eastside Grill seems to be doing well though, a few months ago I tried to go there at about 5:30 (weekend) and it was a 45 minute wait! So we went elsewhere.
One of these days, when not rushing to run errands in Hadley, I swear I will try the Korean place. The only Korean I have ever eaten was years ago in Chicago at a Korean Buddhist Vegetarian restaurant and it was really good, so I am looking forward to it.
          Thanks!

I have no idea about its authenticity, but it is good food. THere are always lots of Asian diners there also. We're trying the new Vietnamese place in Hadley tomorrow.

I think EastSide is living off the many years when the Yacuzzos owned it and it was good. There are some good dishes but generally they are meh. And it is NOISY.

Wiggins Tavern has a virtue, that the small side "tavern" (which is quite charming) is very (very) lowkey at night, even on weekends. Meaning it's a great place to take someone for a drink and chat.
