Friday lunch - pre theatre matinee - Italian or American and Cupcakes

Hi, going to see Book of Mormon's Friday matinee in a couple of weeks. Would love to have a very tasty lunch - husband is picky so it will have to be Italian or American food. Read a lot of posts about Trattoria Trecolore - best bet or are new choices?

We don't necessarily need a formal meal - always love a really great sandwich too - so any options would be appreciated. Also, anyone know of any good cupcakes in that area? Have already tried Crumbs, Georgetown, Sprinkles and Magnolia. Eh, just ok - nothing has wowed me yet in the City - My #1 is a shop in New Paltz, NY.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

For a sandwich, maybe City Sandwich? It's on 9th between 45th and 46th.

For cupcakes, try Amy's Bread, on 9th and 47th. It's only a few blocks away from the Eugene O'Neill, which is 8th and 49th.

I think the chocolate souffle cupcakes at Kyotofu are delicious (I've never tried the others). They are on 9th Ave.

Thanks for the tips! I thought we would do more casual, leaving me more time to shop as my husband works in Midtown and has no interest in ever going back on the weekends but decided on trying Becco as I have always wanted to go to Lidia's restaurants. I will look out for the cupcakes!
