Pittsburgh, you gotta try The Porch

I'm somewhat embarassed to say I spent 3 1/2 days in Pittsburgh and had 5 meals at the porch, each of them excellent. It is near the Art Museum U of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon. Had the burger twice and it was as good as you will get anywhere with homemade roll. Had the roast beaf sandwich on their sour dough serve with a ham and bean soap. One evening I enjoyed a superbly prepared pork shank and another their chicken roti. Deserts were excellent. Prices are reasonable. Not the fanciest resturant in town, however for excellent food, a family freindly atmosphere and a comfortable setting, this one can't be beat. I have no complaints.

  1. Does anyone know if the Porch has a little private room? Looking to have a brunch for a celebration for about 10 people.

Porch does not have private dining.

I love The Porch. I was just there Thursday evening. Walking in I looked up . Do they have roof top dining? Maybe just plants up on roof but looked like seats too.

Lamyvonne, It's a bit on the fancy side, but Eleven in the Strip District has a couple of different private dining areas that might work. I don't think they charge extra to book them, and you can either plan a set menu with them or just order off the regular menu. (Brunch there is far more affordable than dinner. I think entrees run about $15.) I went to a small private group meal there years ago, and the people who put it together said the Eleven staff was super nice and very helpful. I think Gullifty's in Squirrel Hill and Casbah in Highland Park might have private spaces, too, but I'm not sure.

HI thanks for the suggestions! Hosted an event for 40 people at Eleven a few years ago ($1,000 tdeposit) and they did a great job. But looking for something different for 10 people this time. I may actually take a look a Casbah outdoor seating.
