crawdads 99ranch - warning

Bought some very lively ones, but when they were cooked they had a strange taste almost like soap, some of the tails were okay but most were mushy (altho not sure how this could be since they were live)

Was I just unlucky or have others had this experience?

Any chance the lively ones died or were in a plastic bag too long? Were they alive when you cooked them? If not, what happens to shellfish is gases emit from their digestive tracts that compromise the flesh.....which in turn makes it soft or mushy.

Nope - there were only about 10 and 5 minutes from store to home. I nearly got my fingers pinched grabbing them to cook them (until I used my brain and got out the tongs!)

I had the same experience a year or 2 ago. Bought the live crawdads from the Richmond Ranch 99. They were mushy and tasted Very muddy.

I bought some frozen item lumpia and when cooked they were mushy inside and tasted rancid. I really wanted to eat them but could not. I lost the receipt and the manager would not let me take them back because I opened the box. I am now pursuing them with the Better Business Bureau since I do not want to pay full price for old rancid food.
