Whittier to Mission Viejo (last-min request)
Hello. My partner and I will be traveling from Whittier to Mission VIejo later today to see a friend's daughter perform in a play (2:30PM). Any recommendations for what to eat for lunch (on the way) and for an early dinner (on the way back)? We're open to any cuisine but would like to keep it relatively casual and no more than $20 (not inclusive of tax/tip).
I checked out the West LA to Anaheim thread below, but I'm not sure if there's much of an overlap in routes, unfortunately....
Thanks! =)

re: Servorg
Thanks for the reply. I guess the path from Whittier to Mission Viejo is, er, not well-traveled by Hounds?
We took your rec and went to the restaurant. Really sort of non-descript location (which I think applies to a lot of places in the area....). Although the restaurant seemed quite busy, there was no wait for a table for 2. Since I had already had a fair amount of food this morning (at Lunasia), I split the Ranchero Omelet w/ my partner; it was easily enough for 2 people. The menu seems to consist mainly of new and relatively high-concept twists on American classics. The food came out shockingly quickly. The omelet was good but had a somewhat pungent flavor (perhaps from the epazote?). The side of home fries were well-seasoned but could've used just a touch more cooking time (they were still somewhat hard, although seem people might like that). The lemonade (which was the same price as the soda) was clearly from a can (and not particularly tasty). My partner and I looked at the people next to us who had the meatloaf (w/ the very interesting-looking chedder poached eggs).
Not a destination restaurant but certainly solid, hearty fare at a reasonable price (once you see the portion size).
