Setting to display comments chronologically

Been a lurker and just started posting.

When viewing a forum topic, I have yet to find a setting to display the comments chronologically. With an old, long thread and many nested comments, it can be difficult to follow. Am I missing something?

  1. Many forums offer the option to display threads in either flat or nested form, but we're not one of them. We only offer threads in nested form, which means we can't offer the chronological view you're seeking. Sorry!

Thanks. Now I can stop looking for that non-existing setting. Couple of more questions:

      - How are the comments per day updated: automatically or by a moderator? Some of my comments would show on the dates I made the comments, and some won't.

      - Are there different moderators for different forums? How can I identify a moderator for a particular forum?

I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say 'comments per day', can you clarify?

All of the moderators work on all of the forums, there are no mods for particular forums. They work anonymously and make any official posts as "The Chowhound Team" as you see above. You can reach the moderators at moderators@chowhound.com or by using the 'report' link on any post you have concerns about.

I probably should have used "comments by date" instead. Here's an example of how I preview a forum to find the most recent posts:

          http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/30

The right column lists the posters' names and the time stamps of their posts. Some of my forum posts (not this one) would show up soon after I post, and some never did. Hence the question of how this column is updated, and by whom.

Is Community Manager part of the Team? Is there a description of the makeup and responsibilities of the Team (an org chart? LOL)? As a newbie to the community, I'm feeling my way around of who is doing what.

The right column is generated automatically by the site. it should show either the last person who posted or the person who started the thread, depending on whether you have the board sorted by 'last post' or 'date started'.

I'm the staff member responsible for the volunteer moderators, who post as The Chowhound Team. I do sometimes also post as The Chowhound Team, when I'm doing general moderation things.

              Thanks for the clarification.
