Cake Emergency in Lakeland!

Our small family (7) will be assembling a week from tomorrow to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday. We are going to a restaurant called Louie Mack's. I called to make reservations and ask about a cake. They want $85 for a 7 layer chocolate cake. Given that we are flying in Friday night from Washington, D.C. and my brother is driving in that day from Kentucky, we are sort of over a barrel unless some can recommend a really great bakery that is either near the convention center (where brother is staying) or near Lakeland Park Drive where we are staying. Any suggestions?

Oh goodness, I dont consider Publix a bakery (grocery store) and find their cakes lacking in flavor and they seem very dry to me...maybe its just me?? But Deli delicacies is a very nice and VERY good bakery..and specialize in cakes and isnt too far from Louie Macks! Here is their link http://www.delidelicacies.com/ and here is a link to their cakes...http://www.lakelandweb.net/delidelica... Ive had quite a few of these cakes, and have never been disappointed ! Cheers!!!!

Publix bakeries are very good. Their service is excellent. Lakeland has several Publix groceries. You can look at some sample cakes here:

      http://www.publix.com/food/catalog/Ba...

and use the store finder to locate the nearest store if you see something you like.
