Chianti Food Itinerary

Hi,

We are coming back to Italy where we got married 10 years ago for an epic trip. My wife and I and some of are wedding party are big foodies and will be spending 4 nights in Chianti (Greve).

I would love recommendations for some amazing dining options in the area (within an hour drive) for lunch and dinner. In particular looking for amazing bistecca, pastas, etc. Our preference is for simple, rustic places (versus Michelin starred) but we would be happy to indulge in those as well if they are worth it. Many thanks in advance.

  1. Macelleria Cecchini in Panzano run by the famous (and somewhat controversial) butcher Dario is a great stop. He is famous for his bistecca and has 2 restaurants in Panzano. One thing I bought when I was there a couple of years ago is his Profumo di Chianti, a salt and herb mixture that is fantastic. It comes in sealed bags so it is easy to fit in your luggage. We love it so much we have several bags shipped to us in Oregon each year!
