Double Whammy. I just left a post about outside lunch with friends from NYC. But now I'm inspired again. I want feta cheese like they put on the salads at Ikaros. Fed up with supermarket feta. Help me find it. Thanks!

I recommend the homemade "Barrel Feta" sold at the Greek Village Bakery, 4711 Eastern Avenue
Baltimore, Md. 21224 (George Avgerinos, 410-675-8155).

Dunno exactly what the flavor profile of your ideal feta is, but the Eden brand they sell at Trader Joe's is really fresh-tasting and smooth while still being salty enough. Definitely one of my favorites. It's sold in plastic packages, with green and yellow on it... I think it may be Israeli in origin?

Whole Foods sells an imported French feta that is both expensive and divine!

Feta comes in many varieties* so you might just want to call the restaurant and find out which brand they use.

*Sheep, cow, goat, cow & goat, All 3, Greek, Bulgarian, Israeli, French, US, etc...

My favorite waiter at Ikaros recommends Prima Foods.

My favorite feta will always be Valbreso. You can order it online!
