burrata cheese and trader joe's [Denver]

cookinitup Jun 7, 2012 07:19 PM

two things.....

first: does anyone know where to get burrata cheese in the denver metro area?

second: has anyone heard whether or not there is ever going to be a trader joe's in the denver area?

There is one opening in Boulder sometime around the end of the summer, I believe, at the 29th Street Mall.

Can't help on the burrata... have you tried Marzyks? Cured in Boulder is another place I'd call. Or I believe you can make your own as well, e.g. http://sunday-suppers.com/how-to-make....

TJs has announced both a Boulder and Denver store coming but not sure of the opening dates.

In addition to Marzyks and Cured eat! drink! from the Vail Valley will be opening Eat + Drink Denver later this month and may be a source at that time.

Have you tried the burrata at Osteria Marco? I'm sure you can buy some there to take home.

i was searching threads about trader joe's and this caught my eye...i live in providence, ri, and when i was in denver last year my sister suggested i must try the burrata at osteria marco. it was the best i've ever had! when i noticed the word "burrata" and "denver' in this thread i immediately thought of it and scrolled down, and sure enough, someone mentioned it!

They had burrata at the Cheese Importers in Longmont the last time I was there (2 months ago). I would call first.

Also, the Denver Trader Joes will be located at 8th and Colorado.

Whole Foods in Cherry Creek is selling the Di Stefano brand burrata- it was either $11 or $12 for 8 oz when I was there today.

I'd also suggest calling the Truffle Cheese Shop. I'm sure if they don't have it, they could probably get it for you or let you know the status of burratta cheese in the area.

I enjoyed my first ever burrata at Eat + Drink Denver today and loved it so I can now confirm they do in fact have it.

And I bought some at Cured last week, so they have it as well. I think it was the Di Stefano brand but not 100% sure; it was $5 for a small baggie.

If you want some at a restaurant, both Pizzeria Basta and Pizzeria Da Lupo in Boulder usually have burrata appetizers. Also, Riff's Urban Cuisine in Boulder has a pizza with burrata on it that's very good.

I assume you're looking for some to take home, but Pizzeria Basta has a stellar burrata appetizer on their menu.

Yes, I just found it today at the Whole Foods Tamarac on Hampden for $11 each. For some reason I remember it being cheaper in SF hehe...

How much did you get for $11? They have small baggies of burrata at Cured in Boulder for $5, a perfect amount as an appetizer portion for maybe 3-4 people.
