DRIVE FROM NYC TO LOUISVILLE: WHERE TO EAT IN PENNSLYVANIA AND WEST VIRGINIA
We will be driving to Louisville from New York City and plan to stop overnight in Morgantown - interested in alternatives that are at the half-way point. Looking for suggestions for a lunch stop in Pennslyvania, dinner/breakfast in Morgantown, and any additional suggestions.
If you have any option to stay ANYWHERE else rather than Morgantown, do it. I made that mistake myself two years ago, because it was the halfway point between my central NJ start and my Lexington KY finish, and the only place in the general area with hotels that I could get on points. The place was a pit, in general, and our one meal (Morgantown Brewing Co--we figured, how wrong could one go with that?) was amazingly disappointing. There seemed to be a real dearth of decent restaurants; I tried pretty hard to find something that sounded good and ended up striking out totally.
Sorry for the trash talk but I still shudder when I think of our stay there.
I can say good things about the lunch options in Carlisle, PA, though. Mr. travelmad478 has a cousin there and she gave us good recommendations. I can't remember exactly where we ate, but I do remember liking it. There is a good little downtown with plenty of attractive options.
IF you are indeed stuck with Morgantown, try Ruby & Ketchy's, its a family joint. I haven't been personally but heard good things. Nothing earth shaking but no real clinkers, is my understanding.
I am scratching my head, I remember hearing something in that area, but can't remember what it is. If I remember I will let you know.
