Sharky's American Grill - Eldridge

Anyone been?

Saw a mention in the local Memorial rag but the author didn't note an address.

Did a little research and voila':

The menu looks pretty good. Lunch and HH look great Lots of beer on tap. Lots of things I'd like to try.

Lambsy? Wanna do some recon for the group?

(BTW, it's at 1140 Eldridge across the street from Houston BBQ Company.)

I saw this place the other day....didn't it replace another short-lived grille in that location? Pictures look good! Have you been to Union Kitchen? I used a Groupon and now have been there 3 times. It is sure packed all the time. I have found it just adequate. The last time, our fish entrees came out in record time in a full house, like in 5 minutes. That doesn't seem right....

Had lunch with my mom and brother there a couple of weekends ago.

The food was well prepared but virtually flavorless.

Seems to be hopping though so I'm sure I'll be back in case I just missed something.

The above response refers to Union Kitchen.

We had dinner at Sharky's Saturday night.

I had a cup of sausage and chicken gumbo. It was a good sized bowl for a "cup". Good flavor but very thin. My buddy had the seafood gumbo. The soup was identical, so we assumed they just throw the proteins at the last second. That works for seafood, but I felt the chicken and sausage was a little weak. (The bright side is that it inspired me to make my own yesterday.)

For dinner I had the fish and chips sandwich. The fish and chips entree sounded good, but a little too much. The sandwich was very good and I would definitely order it again. I took the filet off of the bread for the second half.

For the life of me, I can't remember what my friend had. Fried catfish maybe? <shrug>

Lots of TV's, lots of taps.

Not a bad little joint, but it does seem to trend a little toward the lowest-common-denominator and let's-see-if-we-can-franchise-the-crap-out-of-this-thing. I'm sure they do a good lunch business with all the oilers around that neck o' the woods.

        I'll probably be back.
