How does one send a private message?

  1. We don't have a private messaging function. Some posters list their contact information on their profile page, which you can access by clicking on their name.

I really wish there was a private messaging function. I'd rather not post my contact information in a public place, but on occasion, it'd be nice to be able to move a discussion to a more private setting.

Just establish a hotmail (or whatever service you want to use) email address that you use only for this site. That way you can communicate off board without posting "private contact information" on a public board.

And you can use a site like which will assign a short URL to your email. and require a simple "I am human: test before it reveals the email address. I use this, as you can see on my profile. It has produced no spam for me nor trolls.

      2. Chowhound, are there any potential messaging features in the works, or is this something that the site has decided would not be a good fit?

          Hi hyacinthgirl,

We recognize that there is value in adding this feature, but at this point the feature is not on our roadmap which extends out for about six months.

        2. I think it would be a great enhancement to the sight. I do have a social networking email that I direct everyone to that is strictly used for things like this.
