Mi Familia - Palmetto
Excellent tacos and tostadas, a great chow worthy place! Lengua and carnitas today, plus a great pollo tostada. Fresh maiz tortillas to go 18 for $1 and change. Atmosphere lacks (a lot) but food is definitely go-to. Eighth or ninth time here, so I guess it's good as we have a lot of Mexican places to choose from in Bradenton.

Is there a chance they sell flour tortillas too? Where is it at so a Sarasota girl can find it? Are you interested in a tasty little dive here in Sarasota? Looks divy but very tasty food.

Not sure if they do (I've never asked) - the place on 41 - Acapulco Market does though; you could check the Mi Gente in Sarasota as well (great place!)

Yep, dive restaurants are great - maybe a Sarasota Chowhound Chowdown? Has this been done in our area yet?

There was a chowhound chowdown in Sarasota sometime in march or April but I had just joined and didn't go. They met in the gulfgate area at Ooh La La Bakery.
17 the street in Sarasota has a little dive called Tacos El Tio. In the strip mall near Beneva. One dollar tacos and they are good stuff. Very street food style. Give them a try if you are in the area.
Looked at Mi Gente and they don't so I'll poke into Acapulco. Thanks. My best friends grandma made them in her house every day and i miss the handmade taste in comparison to machine made. They are two different animals-

If you're chowing in Palmetto, consider the Taco Camacho truck on the corner of 301 & Ellenton-Gillette Rd. between 41 & I-75 on F-S-S. Nice selection of tacos -barbacoa, carnitas and lengua are my favorites- and a couple nice homemade sauces including a de arbol that packs a punch. Grilled onions for the asking. There are a couple tables with chairs under a yawning oak tree.
