Seeking South Indian food catering

hey guys,

i'm looking for some suggestions here.

we are looking for south indian vegetarian catering for 40 people. we live in petaluma and looking for someone who can deliver.

hoping to have menu with simple cheap items such as idli's; vada's; pongal; bisibele bath, roti and maybe one curry. something that is about $10-12 per person.

any suggestions. thank you very much.

to clarify im open to both restaurants and individual catering. restaurants probably preferred but hard to find any. most of the ones in the area north bay to the typical curries and rice and naan.

You can check with Udupi in Berkeley to see if they deliver that far. Am not aware of any individuals catering S.Indian food, even in the South Bay.

Many of the South Bay places cater
Madras Cafe,Anjapar,Tirupathi Bhimas and Komala Vilas to name a few.
And I would warn all away from Udupi Palace in Berkeley unless there have been some major improvement in the last few years.

I was referring to individuals as opposed to restaurants. Are the pongals & vadas at Udupi that bad? There's also an Udupi in SF. It's been a couple of years but had catered food from Udupi in Sunnyvale & it was very good. Better than restaurant version.

The other outlets are fine, just the Berkeley location seem to be particularly bad.
Greasy potato masala , old, badly made chutneys (at times with spoiled ingredients), heavy greasy Vadas cooked in less than fresh oil.
We stopped going a few years back so as I said it may have improved but I have not seen any chatter about that happening.

i would agree udupi berkeley was a huge disappointment.

im not sure if they will deliver to petaluma most of the sites talk about 40 miles/45 miles radius..petaluma is 75miles ish....

did you call Lotus in San Raphael?
I had their Sambar Vada and it was pretty good.

I think that the only Restaurant in your area is Lotus Chaat http://www.lotuschaat.com/
That price point is very low for a catered event.
