Quaint, ethnic byo for a date (within Philly)
In search of a quaint byo to visit with my wife. Something along the lines of Kaffa Crossing in West Phila; Trio in Fairmount; Sazon at 9th & Spring Garden; Erawan (123 S 23rd St).
Small to medium sized gem; a bit off the beaten path. Preferably reasonably priced. We love all types of fair!
We're coming from Havertown and would like to venture downtown however we'd entertain Main Line area as well; even Chestnut Hill.
Thanks so much in advance!

I'm not sure it's "quaint," but definitely on par with other's you've mentioned and certainly off the beaten path, I'd go to Circles (Thai) near 15th and Tasker (http://circlesnewbold.com/).

I'm never sure what "ethnic" means when people use it like this. Isn't any restaurant that cooks a particular type of cuisine ethnic? I am assuming you mean what people usually mean, which is non-European or U.S.
My first thought was Koo Zee Doo or Modo Mio, but I don't know if those count as ethnic. Not BYO, but Rangoon is always great for a fun meal, which you'd like if you like Thai food (Burmese is sort of a cross between Thai and Indian).

would kanella be an option? idk if it's ethnic enough for you, and it can get kind of crowded just because of where it is, but i still think it's a great place
i would like to try 943 (argentine and italian food) in the italian market, despite hearing some bad reviews of the service
koo zee doo in northern liberties might also work for you
