Celtics Game Watching but Kinda Date-Like?

Ugh, 2nd date tomorrow night and we want to watch the Celtics game. I work near Gov Center, what would be best options for a nicer spot with date atmosphere, good food, and TVs? Help!

Johnnies on the Side is a nice option

Smith & Wollensky on Congress/ Atlantic Ave has TVs and is not too far. Maybe you can reserve one of the 2-person booths in front of the TVs.

I would just go to the Waterfront Cafe in the North End, watch the game and grab one of their pretty good pizzas. It will be a great atmosphere for the game and a fun date, which might be more important than great food in this case.

Thanks - saw some older suggestions on Waterfront Cafe, good to know it's still a good option.

Downstairs bar at Marliave. Bar at Scollay Square. Bar at Mija Cantina. Bar at Scholar's.

There are some fancier options, but you don't want to seem to be trying too hard, I'm guessing.

Does Scollay Square have decent food? (Serious question; haven't tried it.)

I've only looked at the Scholar's menu. Wasn't tempted.

I'd say decent, but not extraordinary: very middle-of-the-road American food, not a tremendous value, but not insulting, either. It's from the Legendary Hospitality Group, the same people behind Max & Dylan's, Papagayo, and Tavern on the Water. Ain't no Beard Awards in the future of these kitchens, but the atmosphere at Scollay is pretty nice, and the seats at the bar are wide and comfy. (Nice patio out front, too.) I got a burger plate the other day that I'd say was maybe worth the $10.

I haven't had much of the food at Scholar's, and the atmosphere is a bit more casual than most of the places I listed.

Mija Cantina looks fun, thanks for the suggestion.

It's closer to Downtown Crossing, but maybe Stoddard's? Or JM Curley?
