Orlando - Craft Cocktails Recs

Hey FL CHers-
I will be in Orlando for a couple of weeks for some much needed golf and R & R. Mostly a guys trip and I am looking for a couple of recs for a nice bar or lounge/speakeasy to find great craft cocktails. As an alternative, are there some lounges where it will be a good place to chill after dinner. Not up for any clubbing craziness or too much of a scene. We will be staying south of downtown at Grand Cypress, but transportation is not an issue as we will cab or car service it. Thanks for the help!

The two best craft cocktail places are actually restaurants, but they are two of the best dining options in town, not too expensive and have great bar food too.

Ravenous Pig in Winter Park and The Tasting Room in Winter Garden. Both feature constantly updated cocktail menus and fresh, seasonal ingredients.

From where you are, you could jump on the Western Beltway (429) and be in Winter Garden in 20 minutes with a car service - taxis would cost too much and might not go there anyway.

Anyone know if the new craft cocktail place from the owner's of The Table at the Dellagio in Sand Lake's Restaurant Row is open yet? Another option that is closer to you is Dragonfly also in the Dellagio - they feature some great drinks and a wonderful sake list. Plus in that area you could bar hop a little and check out some other fun places to drink like World of Beer, La Rouge, Cricketer's Arms, Corona's Cigars, Alchemy Lounge (hookah bar), and Stogies.

Ok, now you are talking! I saw Dragonfly as a good option for sushi/asian. Anything close to this area that is solid for steakhouse?

Do you mean near your hotel or near Dragonfly?

Near your hotel, Bull & Bear at the Waldorf Astoria is a short cab ride for you (http://www.bullandbearorlando.com/). This place is amazing - check out the reviews on OpenTable, etc to see how solid it is.

A nice guys' evening if you are looking to chill really close to your hotel would be steaks at Bull & Bear and then a taxi to Downtown Disney for a Guinness or Irish Whiskey at Raglan Road - some families there as it's Disney but get a bar table it's fun - really no avoiding the kiddies completely in the area where you are staying

Near Dragonfly it's pretty much the top-end chains (Ruth's Chris, Morton's) though Vines makes a decent steak and is a local place. Come think of it they have a good bar scene with live jazz music and decent bar bites as well. (http://www.vinesgrille.com/) - watch out for the loud music - I hate websites that do that!

Both...so your responses are super helpful. Yeah, Bull and Bear looks really good and I'm always up for a new steakhouse. All the chains I've been to many times.

The owners of The Table are opening a dedicated craft cocktail bar? I couldn't find anything about this. Orlando desperately needs a strong cocktail bar.

Got this email from them on May 4th

          Good Afternoon Everyone,

The Table is expanding and creating a whole new restaurant next door. This new place (yet officially un-named) will be more like a typical restaurant although with our twist, our style.

This "restaurant" will be more focused on amazing cocktails with all made from scratch ingredients and a simple menu focusing on local & sustainable foods from Florida!
The style of the restaurant will be 1920's Speakeasy meets New York City Brasserie.

No reservations are needed. We want this to be a comfortable relaxed place to meet for drinks and enjoy some amazing food!

We are offering a chance to friends of The Table, first dibs on what promises to be the next best deal in town. This is your chance to "invest in happiness", a chance to join what promises to be a great “members only” club and honestly a heck of a deal.

Please check out the attached sheet for more information and, as always, if you have questions or are interested in becoming a member please reach out.

We thank you for supporting The Table and look forward to changing the dining scene in Central Florida yet again this summer.

          Regards,
          Team Table Orlando

I find Dragonfly to be way overpriced for what they dish out. There are places that make better cocktails and charge way less.

Try Terrace 390 and/or The Grand Bohemian (they also have live jazz music on weekends.)
