mangia Jun 5, 2012 03:07 PM

looking for a pleasant spot to have a dinner, French, Italian, American, in the area near the Stamford Towne Center...A spot with good food, decent wine, and an atmosphere conducive to conversation.

Thanks in advance

As a head's-up, Bull's Head is almost 2 miles away from the Town Center.

I don't know your price range, but take a look at Chez Jean-Pierre (www.chezjeanpierre.com), Columbus Park Trattoria (www.columbusparktrattoria.com), or Barcelona (www.barcelonawinebar.com/stamford.htm).

      I've heard Patrizia's (www.patriziasofstamford.com) is nice, but haven't been.

This site has an extensive list of downtown Stamford restaurants (will open as PDF), color-coded by price-range. http://tinyurl.com/6s9dw4z No reviews, but it's a good place to start...

Good recs, tho Patrizia not in same league with Columbus Park. There's also Napa, which I still love, tho not as good as when Taibe was cooking there. OP didn't mention Indian, but places like Tawa and Coramandel also excellent,

There are over 80 restaurants within three blocks of the Town Center so plenty of choices.

Patrizia's is EMPTY every time I walk by it. Not just at 6AM either :-)
