Mulino's of White Plains: Worth it at a discount?

There's a Groupon available for dinner at Mulino's - $89 gets you a full meal for two with a couple of glasses of wine. Was thinking about grabbing it and using it for a special night out with my wife. Anyone been there recently? Is it worth a dinner at that discounted price?

Thanks!

  1. Haven't been in about 3 years, was one of my fav places for special occasions but when I ate there the last few times I was disappointed. Quality and service had slipped enough to cause me to move on. Groupon is probably an indication they have lost business.

    1. I have not been to Mulino's but friends of ours went about 2 weeks ago to celebrate their anniversary. They did not have anything good to say about their dinner.

I have bought some Groupons to places that don't seem to be hurting for business (Frank Pepe's for example, though who knows), but in this case, maybe Mulino's needs business and there is a reason why.

Yeah, I've had pretty good luck with the Groupons as well. The restaurants seem to be doing well and the meals have been good to very good.

That poor report about Mulino's is a red flag, though.

I generally do not report my friends meals here without a first hand account but in this case, when our friends said how their dinner was not good, other friends who were in on the conversation said "if we knew you were going, we would have told you not to go".

The quality of the food and service at Mulino's is nowhere near as good as it was a couple of years ago. They used to drawer a large professional bar crowd during the week and the dining room was always busy. Now when you go in for a drink it's like a ghost town. It's a shame because it was one of the best restaurants in the area. The only time I see it crowded is Christmas time when they decorate.
