1 night in Madrid

My husband and I will be in Madrid for 1 Monday evening between flights. We get in around 5pm and fly out again at noon the next day - just enough time to get a "taste" of Madrid. Would LOVE any recos for where we should head to to wander around and eat/ drink the night away. Thanks!

The Airport is 12 km from Madrid´s Centre ... Which neighborhood is the Hotel where are u staying at ? Then, one can provide some suggestions ---

Off the top of the think tank:

    I would do:

HUERTAS ( Barrio Sevilla ), near the Palace Hotel ...

    1) ESTADO PURO - CHEF PACO RONCERO
    2) CAFÉ POETTÌ - IGNAZIO DEIAS
    3) SCATTO MATTO - IGNAZIO DEIAS ( means CHECK MATE and is a photo gallery of black and white classic cinema fotos of all the great Italian actors and actresses ... lovely and have the SARDINIAN PORT FOR A DIGESTI )
    4) hotel derby roof top - chef joaquin felipe - restaurant EUROPA DECO
5 ) calle Lagasca - from calle alcala all the way to serrano are hundreds of small lovely places to have tapas, or a dinner ...

    enjoy.

Go for tapas around the calle Cava Baja, and the mercado de san miguel. It's smack in the center and close to some nice sights/walks.
