Fredericksburg/Stonewall Peaches?

I usually see a thread on this forum when the Hill Country peaches are ripe but I have not seen one this year. Does anybody know if the peaches in the Fredericksburg or Stonewall area are ripe and ready? I would like to know from others before making the trip down there. A coworker said that he got some last weekend.

i got some from engle farms from fredrcksburg today at the round rock farmers mkt and they tasted great.also saw them being sold in georgetown on weekends on williams drive.

Yeah I guess I just went to the wrong stand.

Check out the stand on 360 and Wild Basin. We got some very good peaches from him. The ones from the SFC Farmer's Market are similarly stellar.

The ones we bought at HEB were so mealy and bland that I took one bite and spit it out.

I've had good ones from this stand too. Also a stand at 620 and 2222.

I got some fredricksberg peaches at the downtown farmers market in austin yesterday and they were great. I also see them being sold from a truck on N lamar every day, so Im guessing they are in peak season.

Where on N Lamar? That would sure be a lot more convenient than a trip down there.

Somewhere between braker and yager. If you are going north it will be on the right. Theres a little tent set up and they are selling them out the back of a pickup truck

I just bought some from the stand on N Lamar and unfortunately they were merely OK (and about $2.50/lb), not ripe enough and not very juicy at all. The small peaches that they have at HEB right now for $0.67/lb are much sweeter and juicier and taste much better (although not freestone); I am going to stop by there and get some more before the sale goes off. They say Georgia Peach Co. on the label.
