Rome: Birthday for my wife... with 2 kids
Hi,
First time in Rome, we are staying in an appartment close to San Giovanni in Laterano for the week-end, and I am looking for a nice place to have dinner for my wife's birthday tonight. Our sons are 9 and 13 so they should behave!
I am new to this site so I must admit I am a bit overwhelmed by all the good advice already given, and any tip will be extremely helpful!
In terms of price it can be nice (again it is her birthday), but not necessarily a michelin 3-stars as we are with our kids and it would not fit exactly in our budget.
Thanks for your help
Hubert

Does your wife have favorites when it comes to Roman food -- like, would she be more tickled by a great fish menu, or a great wine list, or a great vegetable antipasti, or maybe even a fun pizzeria? Is a certain ambience or it being close-to-home a factor in making it ideal?

She really likes everything, but I would say that a great fish menu would get her preferrence. Eventually she likes to discover new places and different food, and she definitely appreciate friendly service. And she is not very familiar with Roman food as it is her first time here (although not in Italy).
By the way it was supposed to be this evening but she hurt her foot, so we have a second chance tomorrow or Monday night...
