Penzey's in Hillcrest

May be old news to some, but just read that Penzey's spice is coming to the Hillcrest Colonnade (1274 University Ave). Will save the long drive to Irvine.

      That was fast!! When I drove by 2 weeks ago, they didn't look anywhere near ready to open.

      I had an appointment up in Hillcrest this morning just a couple of blocks from the reported new location, so I drove by to see if it was open. It is not, and from the looks of the space they're not very close. In fact, the for lease sign is still up in the windows!

          I've ordered on-line from them and have been very happy with what I received. Nice selection of spice blends.

          I don't think they're open yet, but they are advertising parttime jobs available

            Oh wow. This makes me really happy and I don't even live in SD anymore!!!

            Their spices are top notch and I am really glad they are in CA. (I am thinking they might have a location in the LA area, but just don't remember.) Their customer service is very good. I have been ordering from them on-line for years.

            Now if I could only get one in Fresno - LOL.

              The L.A.-ish location is in Irvine. Since I prefer to shop in-store, used to drive there several times a year from S.D. area, so now very glad they're coming to Hillcrest. Hope they open by fall...will stock up then on all my pre-holiday baking spices.

                FYI, Penzey's has a location in Santa Monica, Penzey's first California store.

                    This is all good to know. Means when I'm making that "fabulous" drive up or down the 5 or the 405 I can stop in Torrance, Irvine, or Santa Monica. :))
