Not Trendy North Park/Hillcrest

I rarely go to San Diego for dinner so need your help. There will be 5 of us next Friday the 8th coming from graduation to dinner at 7:30. All adults. No sushi. Not expensive, but not paper plates, and not too loud or "romantic." Thanks much.

Kyhber pass is not trendy, not hip, not loud, not expensive, not paper plates, only slightly romantic.

Maybe another time. Got the reservation as Prado and if we get there early at least there's something for folks to look at since this is definitely not a bar crowd.

Thanks for your help and hope to get to Urban Solace at some point with just my husband. Number of guests has grown so easiest choice is Prado in Balboa Park because that's where the graduation is. Wish they had a better menu, but it is the best way to deal with this group. Thanks for your help.

I've seen some pretty large parties at Urban Solace. Haven't been to Prado, the linkery might be another option?

Oh it had nothing to do with the size of the group. It now includes some folks that could get lost if we go elsewhere and just are more comfortable with someplace they've been before--and they've been to the Prado. Sigh....... family..................

Jaynes Gastropub, Urban Solace, or Farmhouse Cafe could work.

I liked the menu at Solace but when I began to look at reviews it sounded like the service was unpleasant in a hipper-than-thou sort of way. Anyone care to chime in on this?

I've only had courteous and knowledgeable service at Urban Solace.

            And I'm certainly not hip.

Given your description, that'd be my #1 choice- great folks, great food.

I go to Urban Solace about once a month and always find the service to be extremely friendly without any kind of pretense. I understand being turned off to holier-than-thou service but have never experienced that at U.S. Love the food, drinks, and new aesthetics.
