Upcoming trip to Istanbul--need restaurant advice

We're leaving on a family trip to Turkey in about 10 days, and will be spending 4 or 5 days in Istanbul, which is reputed to be an amazing food city. Any suggestions for restaurants from widely travelled chowhounders? Looking primarily for traditional Turkish cooking, though I hear there are some modern variants that are fantastic. Anywhere in Istanbul is fine, and expense not a concern---vacations are for splurging. Thanks for any advice!
