I was looking for some recommendations for the Eureka area, but it is such a pain in the butt trying to find anything on this board, scrolling through the threads until your eyes pop out.
Any suggestions for Eureka?
And more importantly, any suggestions on how to find threads on an area asides from scrolling?
Google search "chowhound, eureka" doesn't cut it either.

Here's a thread on Eureka/Ukiah areas.

Also, I sent an e-mail to a relative in Eureka and will see if I get a timely response.

Has Beans appears to make the best coffee.
We tried Jambalaya in Arcata and it was fair to middlin. They do an OK chowder, but I was impressed with the entrees we ordered.

Hurricane Kates, Restaurant 301 are the trendy places.
Avalon is Ok, avoid the wine by the glass, its probably old. Personally I enjoy the food at
Roys Italian Dinners. Its old fashioned, but tasty.
The cheesesteak place in Arcata is good for lunch.

For fast food, check out the fresh freeze for juicy burgers, good old fashioned french fries and shakes.

Carmelas Mexican is also a treasure. Informal sitdown home cooking. There is a lot of good mexican in Eureka surprizingly.
