super_al, how did it go? My husband and I are going to try and wait for a midnight table when we go in two weeks. We're wondering what time we should show up. Thanks!

Sorry that i did not reply back to this post.... I think i made one with all my spain report
At the end a friend of mine that is a chef back home is friends with one of alberts main chefs somhe got us a table, and thats how we got it, but from what i saw they do have some tables for walkins, the thing is that they dont fill up the rest all at once, what i would recomend is to go for lunch and arrive there before openning time I think around 12 30and get in line, and smile to the host, i think that is your best bet, hopefully ill work let me know
Also if you are going to have more time in barcelona dont miss comerc24 (amazing is all i can say) and paco meralgo (best tapas bar in town)
          Cheers

They're only open for lunch on Saturdays (at 1:00pm).
I found Paco Meralgo boring. Just standard stuff - but they are open on Sundays. And they do have English menus.
Much preferred Tapas24 (same ownership as Comerc24 - but haven't tried the latter).

"from what i saw they do have some tables for walkins,"

              Very interesting to know.
You mean you heard walkins who identified themselves as such and were seated? And were they seated at any empty table? Or was there a section that seemed to be designated for walkins?

I also was not that impressed with Paco Meralgo but did find it better than "boring". What was numbingly boring was the endless schlep to get there. After that 20 minute walk that felt like an hour, I wanted the tapas to be worth the schlep at least.
If one's hotel is next door, then ok.

So paco meralgo was next door to our hotel and it does open and sunday (plus i think it is better that cerveceria catalana)

About the wal in tables, i did so not many but a few a people that got in as walk in altough the lines for walk ins was longer, they dont have a whole section, they dont fill up the resturant cuze they cant handel all the food at once so it is not 100 full for that reason, and they only allow amcouple of walk ins, not many, also and i think important it is very good and but not as mind blowing as one would think.... But we will leave everybody to judege that.......

Thanks for the tips. I saw some reviews on Trip Advisor in which people seemed to have good luck getting in if they showed up before 7:30. Which I know is a touristy thing to do, but who cares? I AM a tourist who is determined to eat at Tickets and I have no shame!
