[Salem] Red's Sandwich Shop

This was a decent diner type lunch stop – a break from the touristy, witchy things that had occupied our morning in town.

Seafood pie – lump crab, cod and king prawns, under a breadcrumb topping (so not a “real” pie, then). Good flavour. Came with rice and an excellent selection of vegetables – green beans, carrots and squash – just cooked and nicely al dente.

A “Cuban sandwich” was well filled with roast pork, ham, caramelised onions, cheese, dill pickle and tomato. Excellent sandwich!

Gotta love Reds! I enjoy their turkey club, the breakfast omelets are off the hook, very decent bottomless coffee (right ? I mean who does THAT?) and the old school diner / luncheonette buzz is the real deal. never had their 'dinner' items but I have chowfriends in Salem and they love the $7.95 (!) pasta specials that are menu staples.
