Road trip eats in Las Vegas
My brother and I are going to be on a road trip in a couple of weeks moving him home to Minnesota and we are going to be in Las Vegas for one night before we head out and are looking for a casual place to grab some lunch and dinner. We are staying down at the Tropicana, but pretty much anywhere near the strip would be fine. We are mainly looking for something on the cheaper side (admittedly probably pretty hard to find in Vegas) and where we can get a beer/drink. Any food is fine, we are definitely not picky eaters, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
If it's cheap you want there's Ellis Island Casino and its "steak and beer special" - you have to ask for it because it is not on the menu. Ellis Island is on Koval behind the Venetian. If it's reasonably priced and great food you want there is Lotus of Siam on East Sahara - absolutely unforgettable Thai food - and they serve beer and wine. If it's on the Strip pub atmosphere you want then either 9 Fine Irishmen at New York New York or Todd English's P.U.B. at Aria
A couple of reasonable options, not far from your hotel, can be found at Mandalay Bay. Just take a short walk down the strip (or hop on the tram across the street at Excalibur) and you'll find Burger Bar and Border Grill. Tasty burgers or solid Mexican at reasonable (for Vegas on the strip) prices. Beers, Margaritas . . . good chow.
