Getting a little desperate - Birthday Dinner Saturday
Its my birthday, and I have no plan, but am supposed to meet my family for dinner. I've been calling a ton of my favs and either they don't take reservations, or no reservations for six after 5 or before 930.
My family is coming in from out of town, so this doesn't work.
I was hoping to stay west-end (High park, roncesvalles, queen west west, parkdale
Price: 17 to 25 a main
Bistro, french, fusion, a little upscale, patio a bonus
Takes Reservations, and might have space.
Great idea, CarNut! I went and scrolled the list, curious as to what might suit the OP, who likely is not familiar with the ones that are not his or her faves. The closest to the requirement IMHO was GLobe Earth on Yonge north of Bloor, with a table at 6:30. Contemporary Canadian Bistro with a rational price point, great service and nice atmosphere. BYOB available, check corkage, as it may make it even MORE reasonable for the celebration. ANd of course, the reason it has availability is that it is off the tourist circuit and many locals are cottaging.
wow. 48 hours to Saturday night on a holiday weekend? (Memorial Day in the States, and plenty of them are booked in here for the weekend, DAMHIK!
ON the east side, booking this minute I would be confident of a civilized time and an excellent dinner at JAM Cafe in Cabbagetown, plus they have a nice patio. The same TYPE of place..quality neighborhood bistro, off the tourist track, MUST exist in the wast. Also, larger restaurants.
