Best Restaurant Reviews for Vancouver and Suburbs

bevo May 23, 2012 09:01 PM

Can anyone recommend the best restaurant reviews or blogs covering Vancouver and Suburbs.
I am tired of the old Urbanspoon and Dine Here etc.

i like this one too - more newsy than CH --- i agree it doesn't specifically cover V-BC - BUT it does cover pdx and sea - which appear to be popular Vancouver chow destinations based on the conversations here --- have you taken Amtrak train - it's a great service (maybe not the diner food tho) http://pdx.eater.com/

i'm curious what you are tired of. Certainly, the one proverbial thorn (ie non-constructive review) amongst the other constructive and possibly complimentary reviews reminds us all of the days in which we were "servers" ... i think generally - urban spoon is on the plus-side of reliable ... and handy because it shows the various blogs that have reported on given restaurant (is that a blog-roll? --- hmmm --- roll, i'm sure there is a chow-pun for that same action)

if you do need to skip urban spoon, i second the recommendation for the folkish approach on Chowtimes. Ben and Suzanne? i do not know them but it's interesting to read their possibly ESL take on vancouver area / canada / and other environs.(i like her volunteer work at the community center and the recipes with photos and her willingness to try other culture's cuisines with a certain twist.

Follow Me Foodie, and Sherman's Food Adventures are, IMHO, highly reliable sources in addition to Chowtimes.

thx! = i like the Sherman's food adventures - i had not read it previously - i like that it is low-key and "says it like it is" --- no invites to openings (well, maybe rarely it says on blog) etc etc.

            thx for the info.
i would be interested to read Sherman's reviews of Okanagan if he/she ever gets to that part of BC

Chowtimes has a blogroll which covers most bloggers writing about this area. You can scroll through a lot of reviews their and see which bloggers you want to monitor.
