Anyone been to the Britt Inn recently?

I drive highway 400/69 fairly often, and in December I saw that the Little Britt Inn was closed for renovations. Then in January they seem to have reopened as the Britt Inn (dropping the "Little") and under new management - the sign says "Dan and Nicole".

I only started eating there in the past year, so although I know that it's considered to have gone downhill in the last five years or so I haven't experienced it myself.

Has anyone been since it opened with the new owners?

  1. Answering my own question... I've been to the Britt Inn twice in 2012, in the summer and just yesterday.

The first time the new owners weren't around, and there was just one woman holding down the fort. I was the only person there (it was mid-afternoon) and I ordered soup. It's always a little disconcerting to have the waiter run off, and within 30 seconds hear the "beepbeepbeep" of the microwave being used. However, that said, it was a pretty tasty bowl of cream of tomato soup.

Yesterday I had coffee; not as good as it used to be, but still fine; and mac'n'cheese with Caesar salad. Nothing special, but tasty and filling. It was nice to see that there were six tables full of people at 1pm on a Sunday... so hopefully they'll be able to make a go of it. There's really not many places to eat in the 150 km between Parry Sound and Sudbury!
