Near Fairmont Hotel, Washington, DC

I am looking for recs for a restaurant that a short walk from the Fairmont hotel for a nice sit-down dinner on a Friday night at the end of June, 2012.

Also would like some suggestions for lunch and dinner near the hotel.

Thank you,

  1. RIS and Blue Duck Tavern are both very good and very close. I prefer the former.

Burger, Tap and Shake would be good for lunch. It's right at Washington Circle.

    1. We keep getting requests for places "within walking distance" on this board. DC is a very small city in area and has a very good METRO system. So to go out to dinner, don't limit yourself. Within a few stops you can find lots of great places to eat.

      1. Firefly is within walking distance and a good place for dinner. Will you be looking for weekday or weekend lunch? And are you ok with brunch on a weekend instead of lunch?

        1. I would go to Ris. I love it there. If it's nice out, you can sit outside. The feeling is laid back and the food and drinks are always delicious! It's walking distance to your hotel.

Lunch options nearby is Pizzeria Paradisio (there is a Dupont location and one in Georgetown--you can walk to both), Roti (near GW...I'm obsessed with this place), Sweetgreen for good salads.

Dinner--The new Rasika is near your restaurant. I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it's delicious. District Common is not far from you-I've had 2 meals there so far and really enjoy it.

I like Hank's Oyster Bar. If you like oysters and bars, then it might be for you.

I love Hank's. I guess "walking distance" is relative, but I would consider Hank's to be rather a long walk from the OP's hotel.

I like Hank's a lot as well but it probably would be a 25/30 minute walk from the Fairmont (depending on how fast you walk).

          2. Marcel's is an easy walk from the Fairmont, but isn't cheap (but it's very good).

A little farther, just over the bridge into Georgetown, is La Chaumiere, an old-fashioned country French restaurant that I like a lot.
