a nice brunch restaurant near Columbia, MD for a Baby Shower

Would like a private area so we can do the shower 'thing' but would like a really nice (on the elegant side) brunch that at least serves Mimosas and Marys

  1. Hmmm. Maybe Portalli's in Ellicott City.

    1. I went to a girlfriend's non-baby shower baby shower brunch at Victoria Gastro Pub - it was lovely and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend it - not sure of the private room situation, but the place is large and the service was excellent.

Depending on size they have two rooms that can be closed off. Excellent food.

Thanks, it does look nice from their website and melpy said that they do have two rooms that can be closed off.

2nd Victoria gastropub. They have private rooms, will work with you to plan a menu, food is good...they get it. ask for Torrie and she will work with you over the phone and by email to plan it out

Still-not elegant atmosphere. Maybe good enough on the food side, but....?
I actually really like the Pub, but really feel that the OP is looking for a more sophisticated atmosphere--hence- King's Contrivance//
Elkridge Furnace Inn (but it isn't Columbia in it's area)--What about Cafe de Paris? I can't recommend it as I haven't dined there in a very long time. Am not awhere if they even serve brunch. If memory serves me, it was an elegant dining venue. FoiGras

the private rooms at Victoria could be decorated nicely and it is not what I would call not elegant. i still think you should check it out. They could do a nice job

            2. We hosted a bridal shower brunch at Clyde's a few years ago and it turned out really nice. We only had about 25 guests and everyone was able to order from a small menu. It was very reasonable.

Thank you. This has been wonderful - as trying to do this from Fl is difficult

              2. King's Contrivance Restaurant doesn't specifically serve brunch, but they handle private events from wedding receptions, showers, various private events. They could probably provide a menu that would suit your needs. The mansion is beautifully appointed and the grounds are lovely. Your event could be held under an outdoor tent (weather permitting) or in one of their many private rooms. You may want to peruse their website. It is definitely more elegant then Victoria Gastro Pub. But, the Pub is quite nice. FoiGras

Just got a postcard from King's Contrivance announcing their new brunch. Sounds ala carte. I may have to try.

I did a baby shower brunch at Elkridge Furnace Inn a few years ago. It was quite nice. I love Victoria's, btw...but if you're looking for "elegant," I wouldn't put it in that category!

Is Elkridge Furnace near Columbia? about how far and in what direction? Not too familiar with the area, lived in Montgomery County many years ago, but Darling Granddaughter for whom the shower will be honoring lives near there as do family and friends. Trying to do this from Florida.

Not too far; a few miles. Depends on where in Columbia you're coming from, but it definitely won't take long to get there. It's to the east of Columbia, off of Route 1.

Thanks. Do you know if is a buffet or a la carte? Do they have a website?

                          1. re: nannyred7

They have a set brunch (not a buffet), but I'm sure if you call them, they'd be happy to work with you.

I second The Elkridge Furnace Inn. It is a beautiful restaurant with lovely grounds. There is a website--just Google the Elkridge Furnace Inn. FoiGras

I'd say no longer than 15 minutes from pretty much any part of Columbia. Route 100 to route 1

Please let me know what you think of the Brunch. Thanks for your help.
