Recs for good & somewhat quiet dinner in Sunset Strip vicinity?

I have to do an interview over dinner, and the person is staying at the Sunset Marquis. I never eat in that area & could use some advice in case he doesn't want to go far. Here are the criteria:

1. Not a sushi restaurant. Other cuisines OK.
2. Dinner for $50 per person or less (w/o booze).
3. Not so terribly trendy that we'll be hustled out in 45 minutes flat. I'll probably need at least an hour & can keep ordering food!
4. Not full of deafening ambient noise. I have to be able to use my tape recorder.

Thanks in advance!

Celestino Drago just took over Il Sole, and it may not be ready for prime time, a la Celestino, but his food is sensational, and the place may be in transition from former to current owner. Is a small place, yet formerly was fairly noisy, but who knows these days.

How about Trattoria Amici on Doheney and Santa Monica. Very good Italian food, nice quiet patio. Not a full bar.
