Baby-friendly special occasion restaurant

We'll be in Miami in June for my aunt's birthday. We will be traveling with my 1-year-old son so are looking for a special occasion restaurant that is also somewhat baby-friendly. We plan on eating very early (5 or 5:30 PM). We would prefer somewhere with outdoor seating and a place that takes reservations is a must.

We will be staying at the Doral and my aunt lives in Brickell so something close-ish to one of these would be great.

We are open to most kinds of food and cost of the meal is not a concern.

Thanks for any help!

I would make a reservation for outside seating at Michael's Genuine. Great food, outdoor seating, open early, bustling and casual enough that a 1-yr old won't be out of place. Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill is another alternative which fits the same description. Both are in Design District / Midtown area and centrally located.

I'd say most places are very accomodating if you go relatively early. I went to Michy's with my 5 month-old son at the time and they were very cool. We had a 630 rez and we sat outside. I agree with Frod's recs, though I will say that if you sit outside at Sugarcane, the music from Mercadito can get pretty loud. I'm not sure if it's blaring that early, but just an FYI.

Michy's has a little patio area outside, only drawback if any is that it if you need to walk off a crying fit, it backs on to the parking lot and there's really nowhere to go.

true on both points. But Sra. Martinez works

Outside at Michael's is perfect. Indoors at Sugarcane works too. I'd add Edge Steak and Bar (Four Seasons on Brickell) to the mix because they just added an outdoor terrace area. Food is great too.

Just keep in mind that June in Miami (i) is very hot and humid and (ii) it rains pretty much every day around 4 or 5:00. If you've got a wiggly baby the heat and humidity may make him a little uncomfortable pretty quick. Other than that the recs here are great. Area 31 in the Epic hotel has outdoor seating but I haven't been in a while so can't vouch for the food.

Thanks so much for all of the responses! Extremely helpful. We made a reservation at Michael's Genuine for the night of the birthday and but are also thinking of checking out Michy's.

Quick follow up question-- between Michy's and Michael's Genuine does one of them feel more like a "special occasion" spot?

special occasion wise, if doing outside MGFD. Inside-Michy's.

I agree. I would not recommend Michys' outdoor seating under any circumstances.
