Garden Cafe (Poway) highly recommended

There's a new "food trailer" that's in the Walter Anderson Nursery lot in Poway (it apparently opened earlier this month). I ate there today for the first time -- it was my wife's third time there. They have a wide variety of sandwiches there, with all but one priced at $9 which included a very large sandwich, your choice of drinks, and a small fruit accompaniment on the side (today was strawberries). Their facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GardenCafePoway) has a good picture that shows the set-up.

My initial thought when I saw the $9 on the white board with all the sandwiches was the price was a little high, but then when the drink was included and their was no tax added (i.e. it was already in the price), and then had a large sandwich that tasted great, I revised my thinking such that the price is very fair.

They source local, and had great bread. Only have one picture though the four of us all had different sandwiches and everyone said theirs was great. Each sandwich used a different type of bread.

If you are in the area you should try it. Only open Tues thru Sunday, 10 am to 3 pm weekdays, 9 am to 3 pm weekends

Just to be clear, I have no connections to this business ...

But my wife had lunch there today and took these two additional pictures. One is the menu (not sure how often it changes), and second is the sandwich she got today. It's the Californian done as a wrap.

Dang, I was at the Costco down the street from the nursery..
They need more exposure from Scripps Poway Pkwy..
Even tho' I don't eat meat, the sandwich looks fab..do they have any veggie options?

No sticks and twigs comments...you know who you are!

from the looks of that 2nd pic, you could pull the meat and have a perfect veggie sammie.

You could always risk your life and run across Scripps Poway Parkway and get a grilled cheese from In-n-Out

LOL...you got that right but thank goodness they have a red light camera at that intersection.
I want to try the grilled cheese with those hot chiles they give out but you have to ask for them..bet that is tasty.

I didn't look specifically to see if they had a veggie option, but I'm sure they did. From what I recall there were 10 to 12 different sandwiches to choose from.

And to further my comment about $9 seeming fair, take $9 total = $8.35 + tax = $1.50 drink + $6.85 sandwich. Sandwich was large; my wife ate only half and took the half home for later, and after I ate the second half of my sandwich I was thinking I should have done the same ;)

I was responding to cstr on taking the meat off the pic of your sandwich which looked fab but mostly lettuce but for around $7 for a turkey sandwich is fair and look forward to trying it.
Wishing them all the best and can't wait to try them!

My wife said she had a second picture of my sandwich, so I'm posing it here.
