Need a place for a small party - 15 people or so

I am looking for a restaurant for a group of about 15 for my mom's birthday. I was hoping to find a place with a small private room or a back area. I've been looking around Midtown, Chelsea, Grammercy and the West Village. Any ideas?

    Please provide more information:

    Which meal?
How much do you want to spend per person? Does that include drinks? That alone can jack up a price. Don't forget 25% plus is added with tax and tip
Are you OK with prix fixe?
When is this? May-June is graduation heavy so choices may be scarce. Which day of the week?
Are you ok with ethnic eats? Korean / Chinese are often v good options for larger groups.

Without knowing any of this, check out:
    Garden at Trestle on Tenth
    Back Forty

Good questions and now I feel like an idiot!

I'm thinking of dinner. Would like to spend about $40 per person on food and tip, plus drinks. I'm good with prix fixe, but would shy away from Indian or Asian cuisines, as my mom isn't the most adventurous person in the world!

$40/person is difficult for a party that size, as many otherwise fairly economical restaurants require a more expensive prix fixe. For example, Supper, which usually would cost about $30 for dinner, charges a prix fixe of, I believe, $75 for groups larger than, perhaps, 8. So keep that in mind. Had you not nixed Asian cuisines, I could have easily recommended good Chinese banquet places within your budget. But try calling them and 'inoteca (either branch would be fine).
