pre germinated brown rice
Because of a family member finding he haad type 2 diabetes I was checking for diets for him and came across articles on pre germinated brown rice and how good it was for many of us. It is supposed to consist of soaking it in water and around 100 degrees for 20 hours.There does not seem to be total agreement on the temp and time.
Anyway I dcided to tgry it and put 100 degree water in a bowl coverec with plastic and put in my proofing box. I then discovered the thermostat only would cover to 90 deg. so I soaked it for about 36 hours . The directions said to change the water seveeral times while soaking. I suspect I didnt do it frequently enough and the rice had what to me was an off odor. I ended up simmering it for about 40 min. It had less of the odor when I rinsed it and there was a sort of vege texture inside the rice.
Anyone else made this kind of rice?
I forgot to mentionthat the gaba rice setting on the zororushia ccoker issupposed to creare the pregerminated ricebut the warm phase isnot long enough.
I'll probably put lots of aromatic stuffin the rice when I cook it. I hate to through any thing out.
