Fish closing temporarily
"We had some issues with a few of our investors, and needed to shut down for a week or so," Stollenwerk told Eater. "But, we will be back up and running in short order. Hopefully, next Tuesday, May 29th."

Another weird business thing from Stollenwerk... I hope it's really temporary...

Except...the sign in the window says they were closed due to a flood in the basement, and that's a long time to fix a flood. Still closed, reservation system not accepting reservations...additional interesting observations on the f*ob*oz thread about it. Anyone have any other info?

re: peter johnson
Now slated to reopen June 12: "The menu will include more small plates and shareable dishes, as well as a lower price point intended to drive traffic and make it less a destination restaurant.
Also opening will be the courtyard, a 26-seat pocket garden behind the raw bar."

re: Buckethead
Not too surprising given her talent and Fish's (alleged?) history of not paying staff. Maybe they'll bring back Stollenwerk's mom or whoever was doing desserts when they first opened.
If it really reopens I'm looking forward to the small plate/sharable menu, means I can go there more often.

re: barryg
I actually really liked the desserts there when his mom was doing them, Monica's were an improvement but even before she started doing them the desserts at Fish were better than 75% of the restaurant desserts in the city.
I just meant that the fact she's not returning isn't a good sign for the restaurant's financial health. Hopefully that's all behind them now, we'll see I guess. They could definitely do with a better, more visible sign and/or a more inviting exterior, before they put up the existing sign there it was like the restaurant was camouflaged from passers-by.
